Napier exists because a four-minute blood test should not cost somebody five hours of their life. This is the story of what we took out — and what we had to build to make the rest trustworthy.
Every company has a founding anecdote. Ours happens to be an arithmetic problem that nobody had bothered to solve.
The problem
Our founder took his mother for a routine blood test. They left home at six. They were seen at eleven. The test itself took four minutes. On the drive back he did the arithmetic: five hours of a seventy-year-old’s day, spent almost entirely on logistics.
The question
Not the travel. Not the queue. Not the third clipboard asking for the same date of birth. Strip away everything that wasn’t care, and a five-hour ordeal collapses into about forty minutes of genuine clinical work — work that has no particular reason to happen in a building across town.
The idea
Portable diagnostics got good. Cold-chain logistics got cheap. Secure records got easy. Every technical reason to make patients commute had quietly expired — the only thing still holding the old model up was habit.
The hard part
Letting a stranger into your home to draw your blood asks more of you than sitting in a waiting room does. So we built for that: licence verification, background checks, single-use kits, NABL-accredited labs, named coordinators, and a price you approve before anything happens.
Today
Across Bengaluru and Chennai, the average Napier visit takes forty minutes and costs the patient nothing in travel, queueing or leave from work. The clinical outcome is identical. Everything else about the day is different.
Written down before we took our first booking, and enforced since. Every one of them costs us something — that is rather the point.
Anything that can safely be done at your address, is. We only ask you to travel when the medicine genuinely requires equipment we cannot carry.
Every price is quoted before the work. Every recommendation names what it rules in and what it rules out. If a test won’t change your treatment, we say so — and don’t sell it.
One coordinator owns your case from first call to final recommendation. You never re-explain your history to somebody new.
Encrypted, stored in India, exportable on request, and never sold. We treat health data as something we are holding for you, not something we own.
No result is auto-interpreted and emailed as a number. A physician reviews every report and writes what it means in language you can act on.
The follow-up is part of the visit, not an upsell. If a number needs rechecking in twelve weeks, we are the ones who remember.
